One Vision. One Mission. Students First.
Gifts of every size move the University forward.
Stockton University provides comprehensive support for veterans and active service members to meet their unique academic needs. One of the many challenges endured by service members returning home from war is attending college for the first time. This transition can be even more difficult when students encounter sudden financial hardships. The University seeks to help by providing financial support for these unexpected situations. The following priorities will be supported through Ospreys Give 2019:
- From Troy to Ithaca — funds the ground-breaking program, “From Troy to Ithaca: A Soldier's Journey Home,” which facilitates a much-needed recovery period in a most unique learning environment. This program offers 20 veteran students attending Stockton University a specialized Hellenic seminar and a study tour in Greece that is uniquely relevant to the veteran experience. The goal is to scale this as a national program to engage veteran students throughout the United States.
- Stockton "Got Your Six" Fund — helps military students experiencing financial hardships by providing for meals, housing, books and other necessities. While the G.I. Bill and other benefits account for some educational expenses, service members and veterans often encounter costs that might force them to withdraw from school. The “Got Your Six” fund provides up to $500 for emergencies that can compromise a student’s success.
Who We Are
The Office of Military and Veteran Services was created in January 2009 under the auspices of the Dean of Students. This campus resource assists service members and veterans in exploring their eligibility for G.I. education benefits, receiving referrals to a wide range of support services and connecting students with their fellow veterans by becoming a part of Stockton’s Student Veterans Organization.
